Data turns into powerful information
We provide a free multipurpose software suite that performs instrument control, real time data processing, data archiving and playback functions, to decode the MPL raw signal into understandable information. This interface is the same for both the MPL and MiniMPL, and no extra training is required if you plan to use both instruments.
Recently, we released the 2010R1 software version, which allows the user to get the most from MPL to monitor and study weather, climate change, air quality, volcanic plumes and other atmospheric properties.
In the data acquisition mode, it can display and capture in real time features such as cloud base, Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL) and mark it on the display. This opens a series of potential applications such as setting up alarm systems when detected parameters reach certain values, or link the data from MPL/MiniMPL directly with other monitoring instruments to provide a real time monitoring superstation.
In the post processing mode, the user can group days, weeks or even months of data to study the overall trend. Trends like how the PBL rises and falls during the nights and evening, or between seasons can provide great insight into variability and trends in local weather conditions. Moreover, in the processing mode it is possible to study the changes in depolarization due to particles in the air, a good indicator of how particle types vary with different types of pollution.
The 2010R1 version is for both the beginner and advanced MPL users. If new to atmospheric lidar data processing, it is possible to use the default settings and immediately use the interactive display after installation. If advanced, it is possible to customize the parameter settings, selecting different inversion algorithms, or even export the data or picture out for further processing or rendering it with your own software/scripts.
SigmaMPL software is included free with purchase of any MPL or MiniMPL instrument, with free updates for 12 months after purchase. Sigma Space has developed the software according to customer feedback, and is always open to new requests for features from all levels of users. The company can also provide an advanced toolbox for specialized customer groups, network capability and seamless data integration with other mainstream aerosol monitoring instruments.
